Tom Hanson's semi-fictionalised account of The Zodiac Killer was actually part of an elaborate scheme to try and catch the killer with Hanson believing that the killer would likely attend a screening. Under the guise of winning a Kawasaki motorcycle, audience members were asked to write their answers to "I think the Zodiac kills because..." Unbeknownst, the handwriting of those entries was compared to samples of the Zodiac's.
